Private households can now dispose of used cooking fats and vegetable oils free of charge at all major recycling centers.
Special collection containers – the so-called “OckoBoxes” – are available on site for this purpose. To ensure a clean and uncomplicated collection, the fats and oils should be handed in in their original packaging if possible. If the original packaging is no longer available, used plastic packaging with lids or sealable buckets are also suitable. Greases should also be completely cooled down. Please speak to the recycling center staff before handing them in so that they can be disposed of properly.
Using the OckoBoxes makes an important contribution to environmental protection: Used cooking fats and oils are not flushed down the drain, but are collected sensibly and can then be used for energy generation or further processing.
