Dangerous for the environment. Simply dispose of correctly.

Pollutants

Pollutants - The (disposal) route is the goal!

Medication is vital for many of us. Many devices do not work without batteries. Paints, varnishes, household chemicals – we rely on many objects and materials containing harmful substances in our everyday lives. But what helps us in our everyday lives – if disposed of incorrectly – endangers the air, soil and groundwater. Correct disposal is therefore a must.

Disposal of pollutants

In Emsland there are various ways to dispose of hazardous substances in an environmentally safe manner:

The central landfills

Waste containing hazardous substances up to a total quantity of 20 kilograms or 20 liters plus 40 liters of emulsion paints (solvent-free paints, wall paints) can be disposed of free of charge (except used oil and industrial batteries) at one of the four central landfills in Dörpen, Wesuwe, Flechum and Venneberg.

The hazardous waste interim storage facility

Larger quantities of hazardous waste should be taken to the hazardous waste interim storage facility on the site of the central landfill in Haren-Wesuwe. Private households, public institutions and commercial companies can dispose of hazardous waste here for a fee.

The opening hours of the hazardous waste interim storage facility: Monday to Friday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Old medicines / Voluntary take-back

Old medicines can be handed in at the hazardous waste mobile or disposed of free of charge at one of the four central landfill sites up to a total quantity of 20 kilograms. Smaller quantities can be disposed of with the residual waste.

Pollutants are easy to recognize

They are usually identified by one of the following symbols:

Disposal options

It is not possible to drop off at the pollutant mobile!

You have already paid for the disposal of your used oil when you purchased it. Manufacturers and dealers are obliged to take back used oil (along with filters and other waste materials).

Our tip:
Stick the receipt on your oil canister immediately after purchase – this way you can prove where the oil comes from even after a long time.

Alternatively, one container of up to 20 liters can be taken to any central landfill for a fee.

Larger or commercial quantities are accepted at the hazardous waste interim storage facility for a fee:
